Two years ago, District 4 elected Henry Foster III to make sure this district stopped being an afterthought at City Hall. Here's what that's looked like in practice.

Leading with Purpose

    • Secured federal investment (with Rep. Juan Vargas) for the Black Arts & Culture District, including funding for Marie Widman Park's General Development Plan and Imperial Avenue small business revitalization

    • Moved the SD County Black Chamber of Commerce's into the former Legal Aid building

    • Supported the $25/hour minimum wage for hotel, event-center, and major-venue workers, and secured a prevailing wage for traffic-control flaggers

    • Restored $900K in Community Grant funding and $750K for the Small Business Enhancement Program

    • Secured $37.3 million to fully fund and construct the new Oak Park Library 

    • Voted NO on trash collection fees, the water rate pass-through increase, and the 2026 MTS fare increase

    • Restored $3.33 million in funding to keep library hours and $4.83 million in recreation center hours after the Mayor proposed cuts

    • Resolved over 7,391 "Get It Done" service requests and held 24 community clean-up events, collecting over 650 tons of debris

    • Secured $33 million + to paved over 120 miles miles of District 4 roads

    • Delivered $3 million from the Community Equity Fund to help 287 families displaced by the January 2024 floods get back into stable housing

    • Led the repeal of Footnote 7, closing a land-use loopholes

    • Expanded funding for the No Shots Fired violence interruption program

    • Restored $1 million in youth drop-in program funding after it was removed by the Mayor

    • Restored graffiti abatement and brush management funding

    • Helped establish real civilian oversight of policing through the Commission on Police Practices
