I will continue progress on the Black Arts & Culture District buildout. This includes Marie Widman Park's full development plan, infrastructural investment along Imperial Avenue, and ongoing support for small businesses anchored by having the SD Black Chamber of Commerce's new home right here in the district. I will also ensure the Encanto Block Party continues to be a signature event for our community—activating our public spaces and unifying neighbors and businesses alike.

With the rising costs in our economy, it’s important to prioritize living wages for residents. I'll keep the hospitality wage phase-in on track through 2030, while protecting the small business support that helps local employers make that transition. And, I'll keep growing our workforce pipeline, uplifting apprenticeships and career pathways that turn District 4 residents into skilled tradespeople and first responders, not just job seekers.

There's real work already funded and underway, and I intend to see it through: the full Streamview Drive safety rebuild, continued road paving across the district, and the next phases of park development at Emerald Hills Neighborhood Park and Marie Widman Memorial Park. I'll keep defending library and recreation center hours — the city is heading into a second straight year of budget shortfall, and if those get targeted again, I'll fight to protect them again. I evaluate every housing project on its own facts, not as a blanket yes or no — support for projects that fund their own infrastructure and engage this community, and opposition to the ones that don't. And I'll keep growing the Affordable Housing Preservation Fund, so families already here aren't priced out as costs rise. I'll keep saying no to new fees and rate increases for things like water, trash, and utilities that ask residents to pay more without getting anything back.

Prevention is not only cost effective; it provides real safety outcomes for our communities. I'll keep advocating for No Shots Fired and youth drop-in center funding because they are evidence based solutions for our communities. I'll also prioritize real civilian oversight through the Commission on Police Practices, which includes ensuring the commission and administration are fully staffed and funded. And I'll make sure graffiti abatement and brush management stay funded as a baseline for this district, not something we have to win back from scratch every year.
